Elena Mitrofanova, studente aan de Spaanse Architectuuropleiding IAAC heeft samen met biochemicus Paolo Bombelli een gevelsysteem ontwikkeld dat gebruik maakt van de natuurlijke elektriciteit die planten opwekken. De gevel bestaat uit holle kleistenen die gevuld zijn met mos. Het systeem is gebaseerd op nieuwe wetenschappelijke ontwikkelingen op het gebied van bio-fotovoltaïsche cellen (BPV) die volgens Mitrofanova “goedkoper in productie, zelfherstellend, zelf replicerend, biologisch afbreekbaar en veel duurzamer zijn” dan de standaard zonnecellen.
